Meritus Credit Union recently awarded ten local educators with $250 grants through its Class Cash program, helping educators fund creative learning projects for their classrooms. These grants will fund an exciting mix of projects including technological upgrades like laser engravers, microphones, and 3D printers, as well as hands-on learning opportunities such as a school garden with a financial literacy component, weather monitoring tools, adaptive athletic equipment, and a student stage for theatre.
The Fall 2025 recipients are:
- Dale Gauthier at Lafayette High School (Lafayette Parish)
- Precious Boudreaux at Alice Boucher Elementary (Lafayette Parish)
- Leah Williams at Youngsville Middle School (Lafayette Parish)
- Ashleigh D’Aunoy at Episcopal School of Acadiana (Lafayette Parish)
- Morgan Breaux at Martin Petitjean Elementary (Acadia Parish)
- Cullen Zeno at St. Martin Early STEAM Elementary ( Martin Parish)
- Lisa Sedlitsky at Magnolia Elementary (Iberia Parish)
- Jana Broussard at Park Elementary (Iberia Parish)
- Asia Richardson at St. Charles Street Elementary (Iberia Parish)
- Joni Smith at Jesse Owens Elementary (Vermilion Parish)
Each year, Meritus Credit Union awards 20 grants to teachers in Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin, and Vermilion parishes who bring creative and meaningful learning experiences to their students. Since launching the program in 2016, Meritus CU has contributed more than $55,000 to local teachers and schools.
