METAIRIE, LA – The OnPath Foundation, the philanthropic arm of OnPath Credit Union, is proud to announce the success of its annual Pack the Pirogue community initiative, which brought together members, employees, and local partners to collect school supplies for students and teachers in need across nine Louisiana parishes.
Rooted in Louisiana tradition, Pack the Pirogue transforms a classic Cajun pirogue into a symbol of generosity, filled to the brim with community donations that make a real difference in local schools.
“Every year, Pack the Pirogue reminds us of what makes this region so special,” said Jay Huffstatler, Executive Director of the OnPath Foundation. “Our neighbors step up for one another, especially for our kids and educators. Because of the generosity of our community, hundreds of students will walk into class prepared and confident.”
Donations collected through the campaign were distributed to schools throughout Jefferson, Orleans, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, and Ascension Parishes, ensuring students across the region received support. Each OnPath Credit Union branch served as a collection site, where community members and staff filled custom pirogues with hundreds of donated items. The campaign not only met but exceeded expectations, helping to make the new school year brighter for teachers and students across Southeast Louisiana.
