Firemen’s Federal Credit Union is one of 24 credit unions nationwide chosen to receive funding to expand financial well-being programs for at-risk youth New Orleans, Louisiana — September 2026 — Firemen’s Federal Credit Union has been selected to receive funding through the National Credit Union Foundation’s At-Risk Youth Financial WellBeing Grant. Firemen’s FCU is one of 24 credit unions nationwide chosen for this year’s cohort, after the Foundation received the strongest response to a call for applications in the program’s history.
The credit union will leverage its grant award to expand financial well-being education and create meaningful pathways to financial capability for youth ages 15–18 from underserved communities in New Orleans and Picayune, Mississippi. Working alongside local workforce development partners, the program will reach young people already preparing for employment and adulthood, equipping them with practical financial knowledge, tools, and experiences that can help them build confidence, make informed financial decisions, and begin creating a stronger financial future.
“Every young person deserves the opportunity to build a strong financial future, regardless of the circumstances they face today. This grant allows us to meet young people where they are, provide them with the knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions, and help create pathways toward greater financial stability,” said Judy DeLucca President & CEO, Firemen’s Federal Credit Union. “At Firemen’s Federal Credit Union, we believe in the power of People Helping People, and investing in our youth is one of the most important ways we can strengthen the future of our communities.”
“A young person’s financial well-being is the throughline that influences nearly every opportunity that follows, from education and employment to housing and long-term stability,” said Lauren Culp, executive director at the National Credit Union Foundation. “What we saw in this grant cycle was extraordinary commitment from 24 credit unions eager to address those challenges in their communities.”
The grant period runs September 30, 2026, through September 30, 2027. Firemen’s Federal Credit Union joins 23 other credit unions nationwide selected for this year’s cohort.
