BATON ROUGE – Industry leaders in higher education and corporate information technology systems have been added to the Advisory Board of La Capitol Federal Credit Union. Eric Summers, Vice President for Student Affairs at Southeastern Louisiana University, and Joshua Myers, Director of Security Operations Center and Incident Response at Blue Cross Blue Shield Louisiana, have started their board service.
Summers, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, attended the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Mississippi, and earned his Ph.D. in Education at the University of New Orleans. He began his career at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2000 as an Area Coordinator and now leads nine departments within the Division of Student Affairs.
Summers is known as a student advocate. His notable innovations include launching the Lion Intervention Network (LINK), a system that alerts the university to students facing academic or personal challenges; and Project PULL, a mentoring and leadership development program for first-year students.
Myers, a Livingston Parish resident, holds a Business Administration-Finance degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He leads a Blue Cross Blue Shield Louisiana team responsible for threat monitoring intelligence, and hunting, as well as e-discovery and internal investigations.
Before his time at Blue Cross, Myers was the Senior IS Security Engineer for Ochsner Health. He safeguarded the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information systems while optimizing networked software and operating systems.
La Capitol President Michael Hooper said the new Advisory Board members bring depth and expertise to the credit union. “These individuals bring a wealth of knowledge in information technology, threat mitigation, human resources, administration and much more,” he said. “We are fortunate to have them on our team serving in advisory roles.”
