BATON ROUGE, La. – The concept of giving back held heightened meaning when Jairean Borskey returned to Sherwood Middle School in Baton Rouge to help beautify the grounds where he once walked as a student. Borskey joined one of four volunteer teams that brought La Cap Impact Day to communities across the state Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the conclusion of Love the Boot Week.
Borskey, a La Capitol Federal Credit Union Member Service Specialist, epitomized the credit union’s commitment to impacting the communities it serves. He and 20 of his coworkers from across the state joined with schools and other agencies during the annual Keep Louisiana Beautiful campaign.
La Capitol teams partnered with West Monroe High School, Rapides Parish Police Jury, Sherwood Middle Magnet School, and Crescent City Christian School. “This day of service not only beautified our communities, but also strengthened community pride, inspired ongoing civic engagement, and reminded us of the power in working together,” said Lindsey Robinson, La Capitol Sales and Business Development Manager.
Robinson emphasized the need for both meaningful and ongoing community impact. “Through collective action and a shared sense of responsibility, our employees have come together to clean up and beautify public spaces and educate students on the importance of maintaining our environment,” she said.
Keep Louisiana Beautiful is a multi-tiered media campaign and a boots-on-the-ground volunteer effort that includes supplying branded supplies to the first 600 registered groups. It is fueled by support from the State of Louisiana and sponsors like La Capitol.
Organizers said the event served to improve communities and raise awareness of the state’s litter problem. Keep Louisiana Beautiful will release an outcomes report in May that will summarize the many efforts and events around the state. It will include the total number of events, volunteers, bags of trash collected, pounds of trash collected, and other relevant statistics.
The report will be available at www.keeplouisianabeautiful.org.
