Meritus Credit Union turned game day rivalry into camaraderie as they welcomed Southwest Louisiana Credit Union to crash their tailgate for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns vs. McNeese Cowboys football matchup at the brand-new Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium on September 6.
Since Meritus Credit Union is the Official Credit Union of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and Southwest Louisiana Credit Union is the Official Credit Union of the McNeese Cowboys, the stage was set for the first-ever “Battle of the Official Credit Unions.”
The highlight of the event was a CEO football throwing contest between Meritus CU CEO, Brian Leger, and Southwest Louisiana CU CEO, Chad Miller. The rules were simple: the winning CEO with the most successful passes, would secure a $250 donation from the opposing credit union to their team’s athletic foundation.
Although Leger put up a strong fight, Miller came out on top—earning a $250 donation from Meritus Credit Union to the McNeese Athletic Foundation.
“Credit unions are all about community, and this was a fun way to bring that spirit to game day,” said Brian Leger, CEO of Meritus Credit Union. “While we’re proud supporters of the Ragin’ Cajuns, we’re just as proud to give back and support the McNeese Cowboys through this friendly competition.”
The tailgate featured homemade jambalaya, games, giveaways and a special appearance from Meritus CU’s mascot, Oaklee the Owl, creating a fun and friendly atmosphere for fans of all ages.
Meritus Credit Union looks forward to continuing this spirited rivalry with Southwest Louisiana Credit Union as both institutions cheer on their respective teams throughout the season.
