Metairie, LA —June 1 – OnPath Credit Union and the OnPath Foundation are proud to launch their annual Pack the Pirogue school supply drive, continuing a longstanding tradition of giving back to classrooms across southeast Louisiana.
The initiative aims to provide essential school supplies to students and teachers in Tangipahoa, Ascension, Lafourche, Orleans, St. Tammany, and the River Parishes ahead of the 2025–26 school year.
In 2024, Pack the Pirogue delivered nearly 10,000 school supply items to 12 deserving classrooms nominated by members of the community. With more than 100 nominations submitted each year, the program has become a vital resource for educators who often pay out of pocket to equip their classrooms.
“Access to basic school supplies can make all the difference in a student’s confidence and success.” said Jay Huffstatler, Executive Director of the OnPath Foundation “By easing that burden for families and teachers, we’re helping to build stronger, more resilient communities.”
Donations of school supplies will be accepted from June 16 through July 31 at all OnPath CU branches. The wish list includes school staples such as paper, pencils, scissors, glue, folders, notebooks, erasers, calculators, and backpacks, along with hygiene items like tissues and hand sanitizer.
